SOCIETY 1 Frontman To Lecture At Musicians Institute

SOCIETY 1 frontman Matt Zane is scheduled to speak at the Musicians Institute Tuesday, February 6 at 4:00 p.m. for the Music Business Programs Guest Lecture series. The series has been presenting an exceptionally impressive lineup each week for the past quarter. The series gives students a chance to meet, ask questions and learn directly from some of the most successful artists and music professionals in the industry. The series facilitator Barry Squire also conducts MI's Hiring Hall audition showcase, which has resulted in a number of high-profile gigs for MI students.

Commented Zane: "Not many know it but I actually graduated from MI. I remember being a kid going to that school and now I am being asked to speak. Funny how things come full circle. I can only imagine what the students will think of the industry after my lecture."

Summer 2006 series guests have included Jason Freese (touring keyboard player for GREEN DAY),Kevin Knight (A&R, Publishing, Fearless Records),Jean Lazurus (Club DJ, recording and rehearsal studio Swinghouse),Les Borsai (manager, UNWRITTEN LAW),Fish (recording artist, drummer for JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, FISHBONE),Dave Kushner (recording artist, VELVET REVOLVER),Scott Shriner (recording artist, WEEZER),and Pete Cohen (TV talent producer, "Rock Star: Supernova"). Previous quarters have featured appearances by Justin Warfield (recording artist, SHE WANTS REVENGE),Joe Barresi (producer, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE),Wayne Green (Everlovin' Records/Ben Harper indy marketing),Bob Marlette (producer, OZZY OSBOURNE, SALIVA),Jesse Tobias (songwriter/guitarist, MORRISEY),Kris Pooley (touring musician, GWEN STEFANI),Janine Edwards (tour manager, Lollapalooza/JANE'S ADDICTION),Jeff Blue (A&R, Producer, LINKIN PARK) and Tony Ferguson (A&R, Interscope).

Zane and SOCIETY 1 are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their 2006 Crash Music release "The Years of Spiritual Dissent".
